Les Contamines Montjoie - France 2002

Les Contamines Montjoie is one of the many skiing resorts located around the Mt. Blanc Massiv - Europes highest Mountain Mt. Blanc (4807m) is located in the middle of this spectacular mountain range. The most famous town in the region is Charmonix – which hosted the Winter Olympics in 1924. The Mt. Blanc Massiv is largely located in the Haute-Savoie Department of France.

Les Contamines Montjoie has the advantage of its remoteness, tucked away in the Montjoie Valley. The altitude of the resort (1160m) ensured a plentyful supply of snow around the chalet. After a winter of a slight scarcity of snow, we managed to choose a week when snow was not the issue, as it came down in bucketfuls - it was sometimes more problematic to see where you were going with all the snow.

The Craic was ninety in the group - with excellent cuisine (thanks again to Patrick's Mother for all the preparation in advance, and the excellent cooks on-board!), lively debates, interesting card games (where rules vary from to country...) and not forgetting the never-ending joke evenings.
